About Velox 1:

Velox 1 is a sports media and entertainment startup reimagining professional track & field. Centered around, Race Roulette, a new format where skill, strategy, and luck collide. Our mission is to take the world’s oldest sport and transform it into a premium entertainment property where being “Faster isn’t enough.” Currently in our live field-testing phase, we offer high-performers a front-row seat to building a new sports league from the ground up.

The Role:

We are looking for 3–5 Operations Specialists to serve as the “Field Producers” of the ATL Club Clash (our summer event). You will be the primary team responsible for sending outreach to recruit participating gyms/run clubs, managing the day-of-event flow of the competition, and ensuring the technical rules of the Race Roulette format are executed flawlessly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participation Outreach: Perform outreach activities in-person and via social media DM to local the Atlanta fitness community to secure participants to for our summer event.
  • Event Format & Flow Execution: Become and “expert” in the rules of the Race Roulette format. Work from a detailed “Event Script” to provide clear instructions to athletes and spectators to maintain high event momentum.
  • Data & Scoring Support: Assist the tech lead to eliminate “scoring lag” by ensuring results move instantly from the track to the digital leaderboard.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex rules to participants under pressure.
  • An Operational Mindset. You are a problem-solver who can handle unplanned challenges and find solutions in real-time.
  • Ability to work autonomously and follow directive under minimal supervision.
  • Preferred: Track and Field knowledge or an interest in sports and media & entertainment.

Why Join This Project? (Key Benefits for You):

This is a project-based, unpaid R&D phase for a sports startup, meaning you get a seat at the table during the foundational “building” stage.

Because of that, your “pay” is unconventional: We are investing in your professional pedigree and portfolio.

  • Direct Mentorship & Professional Coaching from Founder: You will work directly with the founder, Rilwan “RJ” Alowonle Jr., former All-American (UNC) and 7-year professional hurdler (Team Nigeria). Beyond Track & Field, RJ brings 5 years of experience as a Marketing Strategy Senior Consultant at Deloitte and 2 years in a stategic operations consulting role at Chick-Fil-A headquarters.
  • Career Strategy Sessions: As part of this project, you will receive personalized career-focused meetings to help you translate this experience (and any prior experience you have) onto your resume, and how to craft a story that best positions you to land future roles at top-tier companies.
  • Large-scale Ownership: Unlike a typical internship where you will be limited in opportunity exposure, in this role you will have significant ownership over event operations and leadership.
